Safeguarding Policy

1. Our commitment to safeguarding

The Housing People Ltd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk.

We recognise that the nature of our work — supporting councils in delivering Resident Support Services, Housing Moves, and Housing & Regeneration programmes — brings us into contact with residents who may be vulnerable.

We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and operate in line with:

  • The Care Act 2014

  • The Children Act 1989 and 2004

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018

  • Relevant local safeguarding policies of the councils we work with

2. Safeguarding in service delivery

We ensure that:

  • All staff and delivery partners receive safeguarding awareness training appropriate to their roles

  • All relevant staff and partners are DBS-checked

  • Safeguarding is embedded into our Removals & Support Services, Resident Support, and other face-to-face delivery work

  • We work in partnership with council safeguarding leads and report concerns promptly through agreed safeguarding channels

  • We continuously review and improve our safeguarding practices in line with national and local guidance
